Bequest Language

Bequests can be set up to make a gift based on a set dollar amount, number of shares, or percentage (%) value of your estate. Below is some sample bequest wording that you may want to share with your attorney as you consider a bequest:

"I give to the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center, a nonprofit corporation in the State of Missouri, with a primary address at 975 N. Warson Road, St. Louis, MO 63132, ____% of the residue of my estate for (general or endowment) support."

Or

"I give to the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center, a nonprofit corporation in the State of Missouri, with a primary address at 975 N. Warson Road, St. Louis, MO 63132, the sum of _____ dollars for (general or endowment) support."

Or

"I give to the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center, a nonprofit corporation in the State of Missouri, with a primary address at 975 N. Warson Road, St. Louis, MO 63132, ____ shares of commonly held stock of ______ Corporation for (general or endowment) support."

We also ask that you include the following language:

"If at some future time, the Danforth Center Board of Trustees determines that neither the principal nor income from this gift can be used for the purposes intended, the board may designate the funds for another purpose that most closely matches the stated intentions described herein."
